306th Bomb Group Museum, Thurleigh, England

Museum Photo Museum Photo http://www.306bg.co.uk/		This custom windsock manufactured by Aradyne Windsocks now flies over the 306th Bombardment Group Museum at Thurleigh, England. The following is from Museum History found at http://www.306bg.co.uk/history.html: "In September 1942 the 306th Bombardment Group [U.S. 8th Army Air Force] arrived [at Thurleigh Airfield]. On 9th October 1942 a formation of B17 Flying Fortress left Thurleigh on the first of what was to be 341 daylight bombing missions over occupied Europe. The 19th April 1945 saw the Group return to their wartime home after what was to be their final combat mission of the war. Thurleigh airfield became the first base in England to be handed over completely to the Americans, giving them full sovereignty and control of these few acres. The 306th stayed longer than any other Eighth Air Force combat Unit at a single base and longer in England than any other Eighth Air Force bomber or fighter unit."

An 18" X 60" Aradyne windsocks in action at RC aircraft club in Fort Worth, Texas. The Greater Southwest Aero Modelers has been flying RC airplanes for 23 years.

"We recently needed to replace our windsock and you came highly recommended. It is now flying proudly at our site," said club member Mark Foster.

They are located on the corner of Hwy 820 and Randal Mill Road in SE Fort Worth.

California: East San Diego County

This 18"x 5' Aradyne windsock in east San Diego County, California, has endured since 2/2004. The sock is mounted on an Aradyne frame atop a customer provided 20 ft. tower with solar powered, red, flashing obstruction light. The site is a dirt bike base station, and the round structure behind the tower is a converted water tank.
"The windsock is pretty well faded out and now just starting to tear at the band around the tail," says owner Alex Hoefer. "The area gets a lot of wind. I would think it has seen 50 to 60 mph gusts and lots of sun. I have just ordered my second windsock from Aradyne."
